Wonder Woman

Daniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes - "Wonder Woman"

In late January, I was asked to make a music video for Daniel Ellsworth & The Great Lakes. They had an amazing song and were willing to trust me to try something a little crazy with it. We shot this video on my iphone 8+ (with the same Moondog Labs anamorphic lens, filmic pro app, and stabilizer that they used on Tangerine,) and I loved it. The process was so fun, the results were so surprising, and it really helped keep the production focused on the important things instead of becoming extensions of the camera department. The thing I loved most about this project was how many friends and family put so much love and attention into putting it together (literally) from the walls, to the choreography, and every other piece of one of the most fun sets and crews I've gotten to direct.

2017: One Second per Day

2017: One Second per Day

Through 2017, I filmed one second per day. Mostly from my phone, with, a few shots on a drone and the big camera, this added up to be a pretty accurate look at my year and undeniable evidence that I get to hang out with some really cool friends, travel a lot, eat a ton of ramen, am slightly too enamored by my dog, and got to share it all with a fiercely wonderful woman.

“I've allowed some of these points to stand, because this is a book of memory, and memory has its own story to tell. But I have done my best to make it tell a truthful story.”
-Tobias Wolff, This Boy's Life

I missed about 15 days in the whole year, which I can totally live with as most of my new year's resolutions don't make it past January. I truly can't describe how thankful I am for all the people and opportunities that made this year so beautiful. This is absolutely a highlight reel, this year was NOT easy, I felt like I was missing out on all the fun stuff while spending most nights at home watching netflix and refreshing instagram, but when it all came together, I'd be a fool to not be grateful for 2017.

oh and it 5:45 is too big of a commitment, which I totally understand, here's the short (roughly one second per week) version:

Little Things In Between

Little Things In Between

"Neighbors bring food with death and flowers with sickness and little things in between."
-Harper Lee, To Kill A Mockingbird

Little Things In Between is a short doc about some of the people I live among in a rapidly changing neighborhood in south Nashville. I wish I had the words to express just how making a scrappy bootstrapped short film was exactly what I needed right now. I'm just very thankful to the friends who lent their input and talents to help hold these pieces together, grateful for the spirited vulnerability and hospitality of my neighbors as they shared their stories and personalities, and challenged by the reminder that there are no excuses, and that you can make a film all within walking distance of your front door.
